A three-kilo meter-long plane tree and chestnut-tree Big Alley from Ilidza leads to the beautiful natural monument of Vrelo Bosne (Spring of Bosna river). The Big alley, which was planted with 726 trees in 1894, is ideal for a family day out, long walks, bicycle and roller skate rides, jogging... The spring (Vrelo Bosne) rises at the base of Mt. Igman and contains more than 60 karst springs. Stojcevac, another outdoor destination with parks, forests, wild roses, raspberry and blackberry bushes, is also connected to the Big alley. The Sarajevo Tunnel, sometimes referred to as Tunnel Spasa and Tunnel of Hope, was built between March and June 1993 while Sarajevo was under siege during the Bosnian War. The 800-meter-long corridor is just over a meter wide, and it is 1.5 meters tall on average. The beleaguered community was once again able to access telephone connections, oil supplies, food, and electricity thanks to the tunnel. Following the war, approximately 20 meters of the tunnel became part of a museum that houses many items from the Siege of Sarajevo, the longest-running siege of any city in modern history.
